Owner Who ‘Never Lost Hope’ Reunites With Dog Who Went Missing For 10 Years

The dog’s microchip reunited the dog and its owner on Saturday, March 2, after running away and going missing 10 years ago.

Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) share The story of Cleo, a 14-year-old cockapoo, was published on Tuesday, March 5th on our Facebook page.

The Florida Animal Shelter said Cleo was brought to the shelter as a stray and was microchip tested.

HSTB writes, “We were hoping for a happy ending where she would be reunited with her owners, but we did not anticipate the joy her story would bring.”

The animal rescue group revealed that Cleo’s owner Luisa was in disbelief when she was contacted by the team. Because Cleo ran away ten years ago.

Louisa says: “I never lost hope” and continued to update Cleo’s microchip, “Even after I move to Miami, I have a faint hope that we will be able to meet again.”.

And on March 2nd, the years of determination finally paid off when Luisa drove five hours from Miami to Tampa Bay to reunite with Cleo.

“We couldn’t be happier for them.” HSTB writes.

HSTB added. “This shows the power and importance of microchips and to never lose hope.”

The animal shelter also shared a heartwarming photo of the animal’s reunion with Cleo, who appeared to be smiling.

The reunion struck a chord with online users and word quickly spread. one Facebook user wrote. “It’s unconditional love for the dog the family kept looking for. This reunion was amazing. I’m crying tears of joy, but I know the family never gave up hope.”

And another user wrote: “This will give new hope to owners who are still searching or have lost hope.”
