Steak bites are crispy steaks that are quick and easy to prepare on the stovetop. I like to use skirt steak cut into bite-sized pieces.

Cooked with plenty of spices and a little butter, this is a guaranteed winning meal in my house. I usually eat it with roasted vegetables and potatoes or rice.

When cooking this recipe, be careful not to overcrowd the pot. You want each piece to be crispy and give the edges a chance to brown. If you overcrowd the pan, your steak will be steamed instead of grilled.

When cooking steak bites, your goal is to get each piece crispy and browned on the outside, with a nice pink and juicy center.

As the meat is cooking, if it looks a little large and not browned on the surface, flip it on that side for 20 to 30 seconds. Be careful not to overcook.

When asked whether to use the inside or outside of skirt steak, my usual answer is to use what you can find at the supermarket. In fact, you can use either cut for this recipe. However, if you have a choice, choose an outer skirt.

The outer skirt steak is usually a little larger in size, has more flavor, and is more tender than the inner skirt steak. However, most of the time I just go with what is available in my local market.

Since you only have a limited amount of time to marinate your steak, these delicious sashimi with a flavorful dry rub are the perfect solution. The succulent dish is prepared in minutes, and just add vegetables for a complete meal.

I served these steaks with a pot of roasted green beans and garlic paprika roasted cauliflower and roasted red potatoes seasoned with the same Cajun spices I use on the steaks.

To make this recipe you will need the following ingredients:

  • skirt steak
  • butter
  • smoked paprika
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • crushed oregano
  • crushed thyme
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • cayenne pepper

You can replace all the spices in this recipe with 4-5 teaspoons of this Cajun seasoning mix. I keep a jar of it in my pantry to make mealtime even easier.

We do not recommend using commercially available seasonings in their original quantities. Most prepackaged mixes contain quite a lot of salt, and you risk making the final dish very salty.

To make this Cajun steak recipe, first cut the meat into bite-sized pieces about 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Place meat in a large bowl and sprinkle with paprika, garlic, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, and cayenne pepper. Mix well to coat the pieces.

Heat a heavy, flat-bottom stainless steel skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once the butter has melted, swirl it around the pan to cover it. Add about a third of the meat and spread it over the entire pan.

Bake for 1 minute and use a large spatula to flip. Cook for another minute. Use a spatula to remove the meat to a plate and repeat with the second piece of meat.

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon butter to the skillet and let it melt, scraping up any drippings. Pour the butter over the steak. Please enjoy warm.

My kids are instantly hooked on the Butter Steak Bites with Mushrooms and always ask for seconds. Served with salted potatoes and honey sriracha roasted broccoli, I love every bite of this meal.

We like to serve these Indian-spiced steak bites with this carnitas salad bowl (just swap out the pork for steak bites), turmeric butter rice, or turmeric roasted potatoes and green beans .
